This Capstone project is a 2D animation video that portrays video games in positive ways, highlights the need for rest and relaxation, and touches on a common experience that many students and working professionals deal with: burnout. The art in the video includes depictions of the stark contrast between a relaxing, tranquil environment and overwhelming, stressful reality. This animation can give the audience different feelings while they watch it, depending on which aspect of the story that they can relate to the most. The project uses research on several illustration and animation techniques, such as squash and stretch, line weight, and color theory. It also includes personal experiences with video games and the weight of STEM classes. Watching this animation may help people to feel like they are not alone in this world of stress, and that it is perfectly okay to take time for rest and relaxation.
